One day, Odo and his owner Melissa were home, when Melissa noticed that her normally laid-back cat was not acting like himself, then started to suddenly get seriously ill. With quick thinking, she rushed him to the East Village Animal Hospital (EVAH) in Kitchener, hoping to find out what her beloved cat was suffering from. There, she got the devastating news: Odo needed emergency surgery— without it, his chances of survival were slim.
Melissa and her family faced a very difficult decision—they could not afford the surgery that might save Odo’s life. The fear of losing him was overwhelming. Thankfully, PAWS stepped in to help.
With financial support from PAWS, the veterinary staff at EVAH performed life-saving surgery on Odo.
After the surgery, Melissa and her family learned that Odo had either ingested a toxin, possibly from eating a bird or mouse earlier, or had developed a lungworm infection. Without immediate intervention, he would not have survived. Now, Odo is back where he belongs—in the loving arms of his family and on the path to a full recovery.
Melissa’s gratitude for PAWS shines through in her heartfelt message:
“I just wanted to send your organization a big virtual hug and a heartfelt thanks… I will never forget what you did, and I look forward to making donations in the future… Thank you for blessing me with your help. Your generosity will never be forgotten. Thank you!”
